Bidovo is a small marketplace for home repair work where the trust story comes first: everyone on both sides is a verified real person, and the bids on your job are yours alone to see.
Every homeowner and every handyman passes a government-ID and selfie check through Stripe Identity before they can post or bid. Not a tickbox — a real document check.
Only you see the bids on your job. Nobody bidding can see what anyone else offered, or even how many others bid. No price anchoring, no races to the bottom.
A verified identity can hold exactly one Bidovo account. Nobody gets to be the homeowner and the handyman on their own job.
Identity is checked automatically: a government photo ID plus a selfie, through Stripe Identity. Trade licences and insurance are checked by hand— contractor licensing in the US is per-state and per-trade with no single API behind it, so a person reads the document against the issuing state’s registry. Until they do, a handyman’s licence shows as “under review” on their bids rather than being hidden.
We don’t verify that a homeowner owns the property they’re posting about. That would need title records, and it’s out of scope.
